Renewal of outdoor spaces around a small 1950s housing complex in a Stockholm suburb.
Concurrent with renovating two unused retail spaces into apartments, the co-op board sought to restore the original character of the buildings and add green space. The conceptual idea ‘seven types of cookies’ (sju sorters kakor) references the original use of the larger retail space as a bakery as well as a Swedish tea tradition. The asphalt along the façades was re-envisioned as a narrow green space with planters of different sizes and heights, each representing a ‘cookie’. The design includes materials reminiscent of the 1950s era, patios, and clearly defined entrances.
