Micro park prototype

A temporary parklet built to demonstrate how a small green retrofit can have a large impact on existing streetscapes and contribute to community well-being.

The micro-park prototype integrates ecosystem services such as stormwater management and biodiversity with seating to create a mid-block public space. A stormwater swale runs through the park, appearing in two vegetated cutouts that are also designed to attract insects and birds.

Small interventions such as the micro-park can help cities cope with climate change by reducing runoff volume and subsequent combined sewer overflows, while the swale vegetation traps pollutants, releasing cleaner water after retention.
