Renovation of a 1970s affordable housing estate.

An extensive analysis identified several areas for improvement. The concept 'dynamic habitat' was inspired by the historic ecosystems of the site and the different backgrounds of its residents. The resulting design emphasizes space for spontaneous meeting and refers to the ecologic progression from meadow to forest. A multi-stage public dialogue allowed residents to help guide a complete reorganization of the large outdoor spaces. Changes include clear definition of entrances, the addition of seating and gathering areas and play spaces integrated into the natural environment.
